Normal army construction consists of 100 points or more. Each miniature has a specific point value depending on its strengths and weaknesses. Each army may contain any number of a particular miniature unless its card states otherwise with exception to heroes. An army may only contain (1) hero. For example you could play with 10 tanks that cost 10 points each in a 100-point battle.
There are two ways to achieve victory in land-based comat:
1) Victory Points: The first player to score victory points equal to the army limit (100 points in a 100-point tournament or 200 points in a 200-point tournament).
Players score victory points equal to the cost of each eliminated model.
2) Strategic Advantage: A player controls a strategic objective (no enemy units in an adjeacent hex) at the end of any round beginning with the 7th round.
Victory goes to the first player to score victory points equal to the fleet limit in naval combat.
There are two ways to score victory points in Naval combat:
1) Eliminate enemies: Players score victory points equal to the cost of each
eliminated model.
2) Capture an objective: At the end of each round, if a player has a model in an
unthreatened sector that player claims that objective marker for 50 victory
points.
Typical organized play constructed army/fleet formats are: 100-points, 150-points, and 200-
points. There are many other fun formats that we use, too. Here are a few:
+ Standard - All Axis&Allies sets from that division are legal for use.
+ Year-Locked - Only miniatures stamped during specified years are legal. For
example you may opt only to use miniatures commisioned before 1941.
So a tank from 1943 would not be legal.
+ Unit-Locked - Only miniatures of a specified type are legal. For example you may
opt only to use troops and transports in a land-based battle so tanks
and planes would not be legal. Similarly you could opt to use only
battleships in naval combat so submarines, cruisers, destroyers,
airplanes, etc would not be legal.
+ In the Trenches - Any miniature with the type soldier is legal as well as
vehicles with the ability Transport or High Gear. At least 50% of your
army must be of the type soldier.
+ Aerial Supremecy - Any miniature with the type aircraft is legal as well as
vehicles with the subtype tank and soldiers with the subtype artillery.
At least 50% of your army must be of the type aircraft.
+ Brute Force - Any miniature with the type vehicle is legal. At least 50% of
your army must be of the subtype tank.
+ Axis VS Allies - Each player constructs one specified point value armies/fleets
for the Axis faction and one for the Allies faction. Before each round
the army that you use is determined randomly and your opponent plays
the opposite faction.
