When you hit an opponent, his or her damage meter builds up. The more damage that builds up, the farther an opponent flies each time he or she gets hit! Soon, people are flying around like rockets. When you fly off the screen in any direction you lose a life!
Victory goes to the last man (or team) standing!
For our standard events players select a character at the beginning of the tournament to battle with for the entire event. Stages are randomly selected each round and are only used once per tournament. The championship match is played on Final Destination. Items are turned off. Lives are stock five. Players must bring their own controller and are encouraged to use WIRED GameCube controllers.
Here are some basic set-ups:
+ Free-for-All - Each player plays solo against (1) to (3) other opponents.
+ 2v2 - Teams of (2) battle other teams of (2).
Typical Brawl formats are:
+ Standard - Players choose a single character to use for the entire event.
+ Buddy Bash - Players choose a single character to use for the entire event.
+ Final Smash - Players choose a single character to use for the entire event.
There are variations on formats that modify one or more of the settings. Here are some:
+ Random Characters - Players are randomly given a character to use each round.
+ Random Rounds - Each round has uses a different format from the variations.
+ HomeRun Derby - Uses Smash Balls and Battering Items only on low.
+ Hogan's Alley - Uses Smash Balls and Shooting Items only on low.
+ Chuckers - Uses Smash Balls and Projectile Items only on low.
+ Steroids - Uses Smash Balls and Performance Items only on low.
+ Medics-R-Us - Uses Smash Balls and Recovery Items only on low.
